Austin-Tindall Sports Complex to Host 2020 Lacrosse State Championships

GAINESVILLE, FL. (1/31/20) – With the excitement of lacrosse practice getting underway this week, the FHSAA announced today that Austin-Tindall Sports Complex in Kissimmee will host the 2020 Florida High School Lacrosse State Championships, as part of a one-year agreement with both the facility and the Kissimmee Sports Commission. The championship event is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th. Austin-Tindall will be hosting the lacrosse state championships for the first time in the event’s history.

“We are once again excited to partner with Kissimmee Sports to host another state championship event in Osceola County,” FHSAA Executive Director George Tomyn said. “Together with Kissimmee Sports, the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex and its’ staff have a proven track record for hosting events. With the recent addition of their new stadium field, this event is sure to be enjoyed by all who participate and attend.”

With a new classification added this year, the lacrosse postseason will now feature two champions for each gender. This means, there will be 16 teams advancing to the event in Kissimmee, unlike previous years where there were only 8. The addition of this new class also means a new structure for the championship event. Each of the semifinal matchups will be conducted on Friday in the complex’s tournament fields, while the four championship games on Saturday will move to the stadium field. Semifinal matchup field assignments, tournament information, and a complete time schedule will be released as the event draws closer.

“The Kissimmee Sports Commission is thrilled to have the opportunity to host the 2020 FHSAA Lacrosse State Championship at Austin-Tindall Sports Complex,” said Kissimmee Sports Executive Director John Poole. “Osceola County and the FHSAA have a long history of successfully hosting a variety of State Championships, and we’re very excited to add lacrosse to the list. We hope that while in town, visitors will be able to enjoy one of the area’s world-famous theme parks, ecotourism attractions, or fine dining establishments. Kissimmee has a lot to offer, and we’re excited to have the chance to showcase the destination through this wonderful championship event.”

Advance ticket information will be available via GoFan, the exclusive digital ticketing provider for the FHSAA. Downloadable today for both Apple and Android, the free GoFan app features the ability to buy tickets to FHSAA State Series events as well as enter the venue through mobile scanning and redemption.
