FHSAA Official Steven Robert Sanchez Passes Away

Robert Sanchez, 69, an Orange Baseball Association baseball umpire, passed away Jan. 1 after losing his battle against heart and lung disease. Born in Miami, Sanchez was an umpire for more than 25 years, umpiring more OBA games in that quarter of a century than any other official. When he wasn't on the baseball diamond, the Hialeah High School and University of South Florida graduate worked for Abbot Laboratories and also Massey Pest Control.
He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel Sanchez and Mercedes Otegui Sanchez of Miami, Florida and his younger sister, Jannette Sanchez Blackstock of Miami also.He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joan Sanchez, and his beloved son, Jason, daughter-in-law, Heidy, and grandson, Noah of Orlando, FL, Sister-in-law Judy Woodruff,  Brother-in-law Bill Woodruff, Oviedo, cousins, Millie Prince, Oviedo, Linda Janelle, Casselberry, niece Brandie Blackstock Delgado, Winter Garden, nephew Donald Blackstock of Miami, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. 
A Celebration of Life will be held at National Cremation & Burial Society

Oviedo on Saturday , January 19th at 1:00 pm, service at 2:30 pm
