FHSAA Statement on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Tragedy

"The Florida High School Athletic Association is deeply saddened by Wednesday’s tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Our staff is here to lend our full support to all of the impacted families, the Stoneman Douglas community and all neighboring schools. Due to this senseless act, we lost five members of the FHSAA family – Athletic Director and Head Wrestling Coach, Chris Hixon, Assistant Football Coach, Aaron Feis, Head Boys and Girls Cross Country Coach, Scott Beigel, girls soccer student-athlete, Alyssa Alhadeff and swimmer Nick Dworet. The FHSAA grieves for all 17 lives lost and continues to send positive thoughts to the survivors and those who are injured, including basketball student-athlete Maddy Wilford. Let us all come together and support the Marjory Stoneman Douglas community during this difficult time."
In light of the horrific tragedy, the FHSAA requests that the following script be read over the public address system at all FHSAA athletic events taking place in the next week.
