Florida High School Soccer State Championships To Return To Spec Martin Memorial Stadium

GAINESVILLE, FL (9/26/17) –The Florida High School Athletic Association announced Tuesday the 2018 and 2019 Florida High School Boys and Girls Soccer State Championships will take place at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium in DeLand. The event was first held there this past February.

“After a successful event earlier this year with great attendance and positive reviews from everyone involved, it made sense to return to DeLand for the next two years,” FHSAA Executive Director George Tomyn said. “The City of DeLand Parks and Recreation Department is a great partner and does a wonderful job providing our student-athletes, fans and coaches a memorable championship experience.”

The 2018 championships are scheduled for Feb. 21-24, while the 2019 event is tentatively slated for Feb. 20-23.

Like this past season, the event will feature 10 state championship matches. A detailed schedule for both boys and girls matches will be announced soon. General admission tickets purchased in advance through GoFan at FHSAA.org will cost $10 each. Tickets purchased at the gate will cost $12 each.

The 6,000-seat historic stadium was renovated less than five years ago, receiving new locker room facilities, premium seating and a renovated press box. It is currently the home of the Stetson University football team.
