Our field took a beating from Hurricane Irma. Our Big Bubba batting cage was destroyed, the roof of our clubhouse caved in and two windows of our press box were blown in, flooding the press box and ruing our PA equipment. We are a Title I school, so fundraising is always a challenge. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

We are in Islamorada in the Florida Keys and came home to find our entire baseball fence and dugouts ripped apart by the flood waters of Hurricane Irma. We are also in jeopardy of losing our softball field, as it's at a city park that is being used to dump all the debris being collected after the storm, and we are not sure when it will be open to us to play again. We have hopes to build backstops for both a baseball field and a softball field on our school property, along with fencing for dugouts. Any help at all with fencing and bleachers or seating for dugouts would be such a blessing. Also, if anyone has a heart to help our middle and lower keys, I would love to put you in contact with people in our church and others who are doing daily trips south to help with parts of the keys were people have absolutely nothing now. Thank you all.

Our school is located in rural Collier county. We were in the North Eastern eye wall of Hurricane Irma, which contained the highest sustained winds, and so PRHS sustained a great deal of damage. As of right now, all three of my scoreboards have been damaged. My baseball and softball scoreboards are complete loss, and the Football scoreboard will need to be completely redone, but it's at least still standing. My Baseball and Softball batting and pitching areas are completely destroyed along with the storage shed for the baseball/Football storage. The Turtle used by baseball is severely damaged and may be beyond repair. The backstop fence has been blown down and will need to be reset before it completely collapses. Protective padding used to protect the down clock support posts was destroyed. We were able to secure the soccer goals but the nets themselves were severely damaged. We can patch them for practice purpose but will need to purchase nets for game goals. Our school was used as a special needs shelter so luckily we didn't sustain any uniform/equipment damage as they were secured in areas that were not accessible by outside elements. My Cross Country course lost all of its signage and directional elements. Regrettably due to the storm we've had to cancel two home games which will directly effect my budget by the sum of $16,000 which will prevent me from being able to replace some of the elements lost in the storm and so any assistance will be greatly appreciated. We are the last county to begin school because of the extensive damage to the area and many of my kids and their families are still without power so again any assistance to help put our program back together to assist our kids to get back to some sense of normalacy is and will be greatly appreciated.

Scoreboards, bleachers, & baseball backstop destroyed by Irma

Hurricane Irma has caused extensive damage to the athletic facilities and fields at LaBelle High School. The football, baseball, and softball scoreboards (all purchased and installed less than five years ago) were destroyed when strong winds took each one down. The baseball field bleachers were also picked up by the winds and thrown onto the baseball backstop, destroying the backstop and a brand new baseball turtle that was purchased this school year. LaBelle is a small rural community that strongly supports and rallies around its sports teams despite not having much. Unfortunately, LaBelle, along with many other communities in Southwest Florida, faced the brunt of the storm and are now desperately trying to pick up the pieces. The damage to our athletic facilities presents a major setback to the experiences of not only our fans, but most importantly our student-athletes. Any donation of time or money, or any kind of help for that matter, would be welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We were very fortunate in that no one was hurt as we were used a shelter during the storm. We did sustain damage on our baseball and softball fields. Almost all of our wind screens were destryoed or damaged beyond use and we lost a portable batting cage that was lifted off the softball field and deposited over a hundred yards away damaging it beyond repair. Our main concern is the replacement of the windscreens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We had attached our 40 sponsor banners (5ftX8ft) to the windscreen so that our sponsors would have a place to showcase their support of our team. This made pulling the banners and windscreen off the fence as destructive as hoping the storm would not destroy the windscreen and banners. Well, the storm did destroy the windscreen, banners, dugout, hitting facility, moved light poles, our back stop is leaning, shingles off our clubhouse, and more. We are looking for help to get a new windscreen. A couple ideas are in my head so that we do NOT attach our banners onto our windscreen (so that we can take on and off our windscreen without ripping it). One idea is to get a windscreen with business logos already on the windscreen. The other would be to put banners around the entire complex and leave the outfield fence just for the windscreen. Any other ideas would help as we windscreen with logos on them is very expensive and we do not have much room around the complex to put up 40 banners. If anyone has some good used windscreen or has a contact to provide windscreen for our program, that would be fantastic.

We lost our batting turtle during the hurricane and the school does not have the funds to replace it. Our batting turtle is a critical piece of equipment as our field is surrounded by woods which makes it impossible to recover the majority of foul balls.
