Wallace Wayne Story

As a coach, athletic administrator and executive director, Wayne Story, 65, has been an innovative leader in Florida for 43 years.

Story is currently the executive director of the Greater Miami Athletic Conference and commissioner of officials for the Greater Miami Athletic Conference Officials Association. He began his teaching and coaching career at Thonotosassa School in Tampa. He later transferred to East Bay High School where he coached football, basketball, baseball and golf while serving as the department chair of physical education.

Story moved to Miami Beach Senior High where he taught English and coached football and wrestling. Soon after his move to Miami Beach, he accepted the position of athletic business manager/athletic director.

As executive director of the GMAC, Story strives to create a level playing field for all athletes by applying the rules fairly and consistently. He is responsible for supervising 37 schools’ athletic programs and investigating all GMAC rules violations.

Story has been honored by the FIAAA as Athletic Administrator of the Year, State Athletic Administrator of the Year and has been granted a lifetime membership. He has also served on the FHSAA Board of Directors and FHSAA Athletic Directors Advisory Committee. He is one of the founders of the Florida Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
