Roy Harrison has served as Plant High School’s girls cross country head coach for more than 30 years. During this tenure he has guided 10 state championship teams and seven individual state champions, and led the Panthers to 19 district championships along with 18 regional titles. The Plant girls cross country team has qualified for the state meet 25 consecutive years.

Additionally, Harrison piloted the Plant girls track team to two regional titles and eight district championships, while capturing six conference championships with the boys cross country team.

As a result of his success, he was named Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year for all classifications on five occasions, was awarded the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year 10 times and was tabbed “Coach of the Decade” for the 1990s by the Tampa Tribune.

Aside from his coaching duties, Harrison has served on the FHSAA Cross Country Advisory Committee and was recognized by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association with its Distinguished Service Award for his 30 years of involvement.
