Since 1987, Michael Parks has been a mainstay at FHSAA State Championship events. As much respects as he gets for his officiating, he gives even more when it comes to training the future officials of the Sunshine State.

Born in Washington D.C., Parks has umpired in the FHSAA State Series for baseball from 1996-2017, including working five state championship games (10 state finals overall). He has been selected to work four football state championship games and has officiated a football regional game every year since 1990. In addition, he also worked in the basketball playoffs for 20-straight years, as well as more than a decade’s worth of softball playoff games,

Away from the games, Parks he has been elected three separate times to serve as the chairperson on the FHSAA Officials Advisory Board for football and baseball. He was selected by the FHSAA to also serve on the FHSAA Start-Up Committee for officials’ evaluations in basketball, baseball and football. Parks is a frequent guest speaker at the FHSAA Compliance Seminars, the FHSAA Officials Leadership Conference and FHSAA Field Clinics throughout the state.

As the leader of the Miracle Strip Officials Association, Parks has served as an officer since 1992 and held the position of booking commissioner for basketball (1992-2004), football (1996-2012) and baseball (1999-2017).

In the rare spare time he has, the retired Air Force security policemen currently volunteers for the Florida Special Olympics.
