As a profound multi-sport official, Bob McKinney was inducted into the Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020.

Throughout his career, McKinney has called 468 football games, 1030 basketball games, 184 baseball and softball contests, and 85 flag football contests for the Association’s member schools. His extensive knowledge and ability to command game rules and mechanics has led him to appear in several FHSAA State Championships in football (5) and basketball (9). McKinney was also a four-time official of the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Game.

McKinney has held prominent positions with each official’s association he has been involved with. At the Mid Coast Officials Association, he was the football assignor (1991-94) and at Central Florida Officials Association, he held the responsibilities of Vice President of Basketball (1995-05) and basketball assignor (2001-02). While with Broward Football Officials Association, he served as Secretary (2010-12), and then became the President of Broward County Basketball Officials Association (2014-17). Currently, McKinney is the basketball assignor for the Broward County Athletic Association.

McKinney currently serves on the FHSAA Football Coaches Advisory Committee as ex-officio (2010-present) and has been a member of the FHSAA Football and Basketball Official Advisory Committees. He has been a distinguished presenter at the FHSAA Officials Leadership Conference, a basketball evaluator, and member of the Official’s Compensation Committee (2019-20). McKinney has demonstrated excellent leadership while handling volatile situations and is respected by high school administrators, students, parents, and community members all over the state.
