The American Association of Adapted Sports Programs Preparing for Competition in Wheelchair Track training video provides high school coaches with the necessary information needed to understand the important elements to successfully coach student athletes with physical disabilities participating on their high school track team. Coaches will learn about techniques for transferring into the racing wheelchair, proper seat positioning, pushing and stroke mechanics, setting the track compensator, as well as safety considerations. Please click here for additional coaches information.
Alert: “There is a slight playback glitch we have discovered in the presentation Interscholastic Wheelchair Track: Pushing. If you attempt to pause the presentation, by either clicking on the screen or the pause button, the slides may begin to play out of sequence with the voiceover. If this occurs, simply use the forward or back arrows that appear to the bottom right of the play bar. This will correct the glitch and begin play accurately with voice from any slide chosen as a new beginning point. Slides may also be chosen and heard individually in this manner as well. “ If you have any issues playing the presentation, please e-mail Shanell Young at syoung@fhsaa.org.
The American Association of Adapted Sports Programs, Inc. (AAASP) wheelchair track training slide presentation serves as a companion learning aid to the AAASP track training video and offers additional information on controlling the wheelchair, measuring considerations and appropriate gear for athletic competition. Please click here for the AAASP PowerPoint presentation.
