RE: Problems with Online Testing Program

The FHSAA experienced several system failures with our online testing program on Sunday, Aug. 26.  The system failed because of a combination of factors, which include:

(1) A massive load of users during the last day; and

(2) A configuration error on our online testing database.

We are currently troubleshooting this problem and will have it solved as quickly as possible so the online open-book exam can proceed as scheduled.

The FHSAA apologizes to all officials who experienced a problem with the online testing program. Any official who experienced this problem will be able to officiate until Sept. 16 without taking an FHSAA closed-book exam.  You will be given access to the online testing program during the make-up exam period – Sept. 14-16 – with no penalty.  Please reference Regulation 103.03 on page 10 of the 2007-08 Officials Guidebook.

This information is also being sent to the leadership in each officials association.

If you are signed up to take the online closed-book exam, please DO NOT go to a written test center tonight.

Please be advised of the following:

• Do not leave multiple emails and phone calls regarding this issue.

• It is recommended that NEW OFFICIALS take the online open book exam, if possible, during the window of Aug. 28-Sept. 2.  New officials are eligible to officiate regular season contest only.

• Returning officials can be assigned using last year’s exam grade until a score is posted on the muster report.

• New officials cannot officiate varsity contests without a score of 75 percent or higher. Therefore they will need to either take the online open book exam (Aug. 28-Sept. 2) or the online makeup exam (Sept. 14-16) and make the grade prior to being assigned varsity.

• The makeup exam will be administered ONLINE ONLY.

• An official who registers a score prior to Sept. 14 may take the online make-up exam. The maximum score this official may post on the makeup exam will be a 75 (ref. 103.03, Officials Guidebook).

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
