FHSAA Executive Director
The Florida High School Athletic Association Inc., Board of Directors is accepting applications for the position of Executive Director.  The vacancy is the result of the retirement of current Executive Director John A. Stewart.  This individual serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the FHSAA, a not-for-profit corporation whose 790 members are all schools from grades 6 through 12, or any combination thereof, both public and non-public, which are located in and serve the students of the State of Florida.  The duties of the Executive Director are listed in Bylaw 4.4.2 on page 14 of the 2007-08 FHSAA Handbook, which can be viewed on the FHSAA web site at  www.fhsaa.org/rules/handbook/0708_handbook2.pdf.

Qualifications

1. Minimum Master’s degree with educational background.
2. A minimum of ten years combined experience in one or more of the following areas which should include school level experience:
    a. Athletic Director;
    b. High School Administration (i.e.) Principal, Headmaster;
    c. Superintendent or Central Office Administrator;
    d. Athletic Association Administrator; and/or
    e. State Association or Department of Education Administrator.
3. Demonstrated personnel management skills and experience necessary to supervise the FHSAA Staff.
4. Demonstrated fiscal experience including financial management and reporting, preparing and overseeing an annual budget of three million dollars.
5. Demonstrated communication skills and experience in speaking, writing, computer and networking, necessary to provide support to member schools.
6. Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative efforts with other educational organizations (Public and Private), and the State Department of Education and State Legislature.
7. Background and successful experience in providing management services to an appointed or elected Board of Directors with training in agenda and strategic planning.
8. Possess a working knowledge of FHSAA Bylaws, Administrative Policies, Procedures and Programs.
9. Extensive administrative involvement in legal matters including depositions, court cases, contracts, and consultant services.
10. Demonstrated exemplary leadership and administrative abilities in previous employment positions.

Contract and Salary Information

The salary and retirement plan will be in the approximate amount of $150,000.00, the personal use of an automobile and cell phone. In addition, the Executive Director is covered by the FHSAA Employee Benefit Plan. You may obtain a copy of the FHSAA Employee Benefit Plan by contacting current FHSAA Executive Director John A.
