University of North Florida To Host 2018 and 2019 Florida High School Track & Field State Championships

GAINESVILLE, FL (11/28/17) – Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida will host the Florida High School Track & Field State Championships for the next two years, the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) announced Tuesday. The 2018 event will take place May 4-5, while the 2019 event will occur May 3-4. Hodges Stadium previously hosted the event from 2012-15.

“We are excited to return to UNF as we showcase the fastest and most athletic high school student-athletes in the country,” FHSAA Executive Director George Tomyn said. “Just like with our volleyball championships earlier this month, we know our partnership with UNF will provide our student-athletes, fans and coaches with a memorable championship experience in a first-class venue.”

For the third-consecutive year, the schedule of events will feature a format in which all four classifications for both girls and boys compete simultaneously over the two-day period. Parking will be free and will be available in Lot 5, 18 and 46. Advanced ticket information will be announced in the near future.

“We are looking forward to again hosting the FHSAA Track & Field Championships and having another opportunity to bring athletes and families from around the state to our University and the Jacksonville community,” UNF Director of Athletics Lee Moon said. “We have a top-level facility and a tremendous campus to showcase during these events and that combined with the championship atmosphere creates a win-win situation for all involved.”
