Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center To Host 2018 Florida High School Competitive Cheerleading State Championships

GAINESVILLE, FL (10/3/17) – For the second-consecutive year, the Gainesville Sports Commission will host the Florida High School Competitive Cheerleading State Championships in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. The event will be held Feb. 4-5, 2018, on the campus of the University of Florida.

“We received overwhelming positive feedback after the event this past January, so it was only natural that we returned to the venue,” FHSAA Executive Director George Tomyn said. “Venues such as this one allow us to give our student-athletes the championship experience they work so hard to attain throughout the year. Nearly 11,000 fans attended the event last year, and the O’Connell Center is perfect for this exciting championship.”

Parking will be free on a first-come, first-served basis. For a list of official hotels, please visit FHSAA.org. An event schedule featuring divisions and times will be released following the completion of regional competition. Semifinals will be broadcast live on the NFHS Network at www.NFHSNetwork.com, with finals tentatively scheduled to be streamed at www.floridagames.myspectrumsports.com.
