FHSAA Announces Eight Finalists for the Fourth Annual Sunshine State Spirit Showdown Contest

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida High School Athletic Association announced the eight finalists for the annual Sunshine State Spirit Showdown Monday. The contest is designed to promote positive sportsmanship while sharing school enthusiasm statewide. River Ridge High School won last year’s competition after submitting this video.

Fan voting will begin Feb. 13 and conclude March 9. The FHSAA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will evaluate the submissions March 10. The winner will be announced March 13 and will be decided by social media fan votes and the FHSAA SAAC.

“The FHSAA and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee look forward to evaluating these entries every year,” FHSAA Executive Director Dr. Roger Dearing said. “It is exciting to experience each school’s unique spirit and traditions while spreading sportsmanship across the state of Florida.”

The finalist’s videos will be featured on the FHSAA YouTube channel and will be shared through the FHSAA Facebook and Twitter.  Fans are encouraged to watch all videos and vote on their favorite using the Survey Monkey link that will appear at the bottom of each video starting Feb. 13.

·         Fort Walton Beach

·         Montverde Academy

·         Oakleaf

·         Palmer Trinity School

·         Pedro Menendez

·         West Nassau
