FHSAA seeking host for Cross Country Finals

The Florida High School Athletic Association is seeking proposals to host the Cross Country state championships after the Little Everglades Steeplechase Foundation and the FHSAA mutually agreed to terminate the event contract, which was set to conclude on June 30, 2013.

"We thank the Little Everglades Ranch for hosting the Cross Country Finals for the past five years," FHSAA Public Relations Specialist Corey Sobers said. "The course was great and the event consistently ran smoothly."

The FHSAA will post proposal specifications on www.fhsaa.org on April 1 and Request for Proposals (RFP) packages will be distributed to interested parties at that time. Once the proposal has been filled out by the prospective host, representatives from the FHSAA make site visits, rank all of the bidders, and come to a decision before beginning negotiations.

"The FHSAA has been contacted verbally by a number of venues interested in hosting the Cross Country Finals thus far and we eagerly await the responses from facilities that want to partner with us," Sobers added.

The responses to the RFP will be evaluated based on the quality of facility, experience in handling similar events, the number of volunteers and staff available to help coordinate the event and the availability and cost of area hotels, among other factors.
