Status of baseball championship venue contract negotiations and any potential RFP for 2013 and beyond
The Treasure Coast Sports Commission has hosted the FHSAA Baseball Championships for only the past two years. They will be hosting the third year of this event in May.
Feedback from participating teams, athletic directors, coaches, parents, players and our staff has been outstanding toward the current venue, host performance and local hotel accommodations.
The newly developed FHSAA’s championship venue contracts have been two or three years with options to renew for additional years. Given the positive feedback and experience with the Treasure Coast Sports Commission, we are extending them the right of first refusal to negotiate a three-year extension to their contract provided they meet the newly developed RFP/contract specifications, including offering FHSAA 100% of the gate revenue.
If the FHSAA does not reach agreement with the desired terms of a contract extension by the middle of March, an RFP will be issued in March to request other host sites proposals to host the baseball finals for three years, beginning with the 2012-13 season.
