West, Wambles re-elected to FHSAA Board of Directors

In the first round of Governance Elections, incumbents Bob West and Russell Wambles were re-elected to their positions on the FHSAA Board of Directors and will serve a second three-year term.  West, the athletic director at Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, defeated two other opponents from the Jacksonville area.  Wambles, the athletic director at Apopka High School had no opposition and was re-elected by acclimation.  Also in Board of Directors elections, incumbent Mark Marsala from Seacrest Country Day School (Naples) will have a run-off election with John Gerdes from St. Petersburg Catholic High to be held April 11 through April 15.
 
In Sectional Appeals Committee elections, incumbent Doug Patterson from Boone High School (Orlando) was re-elected to a second three-year term on the Section 2 committee.  Run-off elections will be needed in Sections 1, 3 and 4.   The run-offs will be between:  in Section 1, Paul O’Halloran from Lincoln High School (Tallahassee) and Ken Roland from Fernandina Beach High School; in Section 3, Laura Figueredo from Plant High School (Tampa) and Pam Lancaster from Tenoroc High School (Lakeland); and Matthew Winters from Wellington Christian School and Joe Zaccheo from Monsignor Pace High School (Miami).  The run-off elections will take place April 11 through April 15.
 
In other elections, the following athletic directors were elected to two-year terms on the FHSAA Representative Assembly: Heidi Michaels, Division 13 Public School seat (Anclote High School); Kenne Brown, Divisions 15 & 16 Private School seat (Orangewood Christian School); Larry Gritton, Divisions 23 & 24 Private School seat (Evangelical Christian School); Don Smith, Division 25 Public School seat (Palm Beach Lakes High School); Adam Winters, Division 25 & 26 Private School seat (The King’s Academy); and William Healy, Divisions 31 & 32 Private School seat (St. Brendan High School).
