FHSAA addresses swine flu concerns (update)

GAINESVILLE – The FHSAA is monitoring the situation regarding the swine flu virus. While there has been confirmation of two cases of the virus in the state, the state series competitions will continue as scheduled.

In the event that the virus impacts one or more of the Associations member schools that are competing in the state series, the FHSAA will make the proper adjustments in scheduling to ensure every team/individual will have a fair chance at a state title. All schools involved in any event rescheduling, will be included in the decision-making process.

The Association is in contact with the Department of Health to obtain the most up-to-date information and will consult with the CDC before any decisions are made.

The FHSAA understands the severity of the situation and wants to keep the student-athletes, coaches, officials and spectators safe.
