FHSAA girls, boys soccer finals to remain in Fort Lauderdale

GAINESVILLE –  The Florida High School Athletic Association announced today at the FHSAA Girls Soccer Finals and FHSAA Boys Soccer Finals state championship tournaments will remain at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale for the next two years.

The FHSAA received two proposals for the events.

The School Board of Broward County and the Broward County Athletic Association submitted a proposal to continue to serve as hosts for the girls & boys soccer finals at Lockhart Stadium, the site of the two events since 2004. The Pensacola Sports Association, meanwhile, submitted a proposal to serve as hosts for the two events at Ashton Brosnaham Sportsplex north of Pensacola, site of the 2006 NCAA Division II Men's & Women's Soccer Championships.

"We are pleased to renew our relationship with the School Board of Broward County and the Broward County Athletic Association for two more years," FHSAA Commissioner John A. Stewart said. "The entire BCAA staff does a fantastic job managing the event, and there is no finer soccer facility in Florida in which our student-athletes can compete."

The two-year agreement with Broward County will keep the girls finals and boys finals at Lockhart Stadium through the 2008-09 soccer season.
