Second episode of FHSAA Sports Report presented by Dodge airs Tuesday

GAINESVILLE – With FHSAA state championship tournaments beginning, “The FHSAA Sports Report Presented by Dodge” explores the roads many teams are taking to be the best. The show airs on Sun Sports Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.

Host Bernie Guenther joins us from Satellite Beach and takes us into a day in the life of the Satellite swimming and diving team. Last season, Satellite’s female team won state, while the male team came in second.

Meanwhile, co-host Christina Vitale is in Cedar Key, enjoying everything the city has to offer, and showing off why Cedar Key High School won the Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award.

Also on the show:

• Jason Alpert takes a look at the road to Miami, site of this year’s FHSAA football state finals. South Florida teams are doing what they can to win a championship in their hometown.

• Alan Hurwitz gets up close with a student football trainer at Western High School, who is beating the odds to be part of a team.

• With four state championships under their belts, Austin Lyon goes in depth to see if the Deland bowling team is a dynasty.
• Kevin Schadel follows Evan Jensen and the Largo golf team, on the path to the state championships.

• With one state championship under her belt, Kelly Parrish is on the run to repeat. Mike Ridaught catches up with the cross country star who hopes to lead Ocala Vanguard to victory.

• John Dunlap reports on a Ribault high school football player who, despite being born with one arm, plays with his whole heart.

Guenther and Vitale also spotlight this month’s Academic All-State winners: Christa Bosenberg, Matt Eicholtz, and Anna Greskovich.

“The FHSAA Sports Report Presented by Dodge” re-airs: Thursday, Oct. 27 at noon; Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m.; Thursday, Nov. 3 at 12:30 a.m.; and Tuesday, Nov. 8 at noon.
