North Marion, The Villages, Cedar Key, Mitchell, Inverness Middle win sportsmanship awards

TAMPA – North Marion High School (Citra), The Villages High School and Cedar Key High School received the overall awards in the FHSAA Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Awards in their respective classifications at the 2004-05 FHSAA Awards Luncheon on Thursday, June 16, at the Wyndham Westshore Hotel in Tampa.

The three schools join Mitchell High School (New Port Richey) and Inverness Middle School as overall state winners.

The final listing of award recipients is:

Class 5A
• Section 2 – Mitchell (New Port Richey)
• Overall – Mitchell (New Port Richey).

Class 4A
• Section 2 – North Marion (Citra)
• Section 3 – DeSoto County (Arcadia)
• Overall – North Marion (Citra)

Class 3A
• Section 1 – Bolles (Jacksonville)
• Section 2 – The Villages
• Overall – The Villages

Class 1A
• Section 2 – Cedar Key
• Section 3 – Temple Heights Christian (Tampa)
• Overall – Cedar Key

Middle Schools
• Section 2 – Inverness Middle
• Overall – Inverness Middle

There were no winners in Classes 6A and 2A.

The Florida High School Athletic Association is the governing body for interscholastic athletic competition in Florida. It has a membership of more than 700 middle, junior and senior high schools.
