Horner wins re-election to Board of Directors; Finlayson, West in runoff for Section 1 seat
GAINESVILLE Dave Horner, athletic director at Forest High School in Ocala, won re-election to his Section 2 public school seat on the Florida High School Athletic Association Board of Directors, the FHSAA Office announced today. Meanwhile, Richard Finlayson, principal of Aucilla Christian Academy in Monticello, and Bob West, athletic director of Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, will be in a run-off election to determine the Section 1 private school representative on the Board of Directors.
The 2005 FHSAA general election ended on April 11. The run-off election will be conducted on line via the Association's iFHSAA interactive database from Friday, April 22, through Monday, May 2.
Three other races were decided in the general election. Michael Todd, assistant principal of Eastside High School in Gainesville, was elected to the public school seat on the Section 2 Appeals Committee. Matthew L. Lewis, athletic director at Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, and Michael Collins, athletic director at Northeast High School in Oakland Park, both won election as delegates to the 2006 and 2007 FHSAA Representative Assembly. Lewis will represent Division 8 public schools. Collins will represent Division 28 public schools. Two other races will be decided in run-off elections.

The Florida High School Athletic Association is the governing body for interscholastic athletic competition in Florida. It has a membership of more than 740 middle and senior high schools.
A representative democracy, the FHSAA annually holds elections to fill seats on its Board of Directors, Representative Assembly and sectional appeals committees. Each member school representative may declare his or her candidacy and run for the seat or seats for which he or she is eligible.
