12 schools recognized for exemplary sportsmanship during 2003-04 school year
GAINESVILLE Twelve schools are recipients of the 2003-04 FHSAA Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Awards in their respective classifications.
Deerfield Beach High School, North Marion High School (Citra) and Callahan Middle School claimed overall state honors in Class 6A, Class 4A and middle schools respectively. They were the only schools honored in those classifications.
The following nine schools are recipients of sectional awards and, as such, are finalists for statewide honors in their respective classifications.
Class 5A Centennial (Port St. Lucie) and Dillard (Fort Lauderdale).
Class 3A Pensacola Catholic and Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale).
Class 2A Providence (Jacksonville), Hawthorne and Lakeland Christian.
Class 1A Temple Heights Christian (Tampa) and Berean Christian (West Palm Beach).
All 12 schools will be honored at the Inaugural FHSAA Awards Luncheon on Thursday, June 10 at the Wyndham Westshore Hotel in Tampa. The statewide winners in Classes 5A, 3A, 2A and 1A will be announced at the luncheon.
The Florida High School Athletic Association is the governing body for interscholastic athletic competition in Florida. It has a membership of more than 700 middle, junior and senior high schools.
