University, South Fork, South Sumter, Freeport, Bronson, Callahan Middle, Bayonet Point Middle win overall sportsmanship awards
TAMPA The 2002 FHSAA Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award overall winners were announced at the 12th Annual FHSAA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Awards Banquet on June 13 at the Wyndham Westshore Hotel in Tampa.
The overall winners were: University High School (Orlando), Class 6A; South Fork High School (Stuart), Class 5A; South Sumter High School (Bushnell), Class 3A; Freeport High School, Class 2A; Bronson High School, Class A; Callahan Middle School and Bayonet Point Middle School (New Port Richey), Middle School. There was no overall winner in Class 4A.
The overall winning schools were selected from among 14 finalists. Each finalist received a commemorative plaque and a $500 cash award from the FHSAA. The state honorees received an additional $2,000 cash award.
The Florida High School Activities Association is the governing body for interscholastic athletics in Florida. It has a membership of 615 middle, junior and senior high schools.
