iHigh.com, United States Marine Corps to present FanFare at 2001 FHSAA Florida Boys Basketball Finals
GAINESVILLE iHigh.com and the United States Marine Corps have teamed up to present the 2001 FHSAA Florida Finals Fanfare in conjunction with the 2001 FHSAA Florida Boys Basketball Finals state championship tournament at The Lakeland Center on March 7-10.
Fanfare, now in its second year, will feature interactive games and sports challenges for all ages. Admission is free with a session ticket. The hours of operation will be 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. during Wednesday's and Thursday's semifinals, and 11 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. during Friday's and Saturday's championships.
Fans who come to the Lakeland Center can plan to spend the entire day either watching the state's finest basketball talent or try their luck at the interactive games themselves.
"We're excited about its return and look forward to a successful event," said Allen Johnson, Executive Director of The Lakeland Center. "Last year was a success, and we're happy to be working with iHigh and the FHSAA to make this event an annual occurance."
Said FHSAA Commissioner Robert W. Hughes: "We're once again excited that we can offer this interactive experience to the high school basketball fans who attend the FHSAA Florida Boys Basketball Finals. The hard work of The Lakeland Center staff and the Lakeland Host Committee, along with iHigh, our marketing company, has made this event a reality."
Games include:
Cingular Wireless Sports Challenge. Test your skill one-on-one with a friend, while both are strapped to a bungee cord and each player tries to make a basket.
Dairy Farmers Inc. Bungee Run. It's a race to the finish down an inflated lane, but how far can you go before the bungee cord snatches you back?
Coca-Cola Free-Throw Challenge. How many in a row can you make from the charity stripe?
Marines Hardwood Hysteria. Check your skill level from three different shot locations around the court.
Dodge Different Obstacle Course. Dodge trucks are made for everything, but can they handle this?
iHigh.com Three-Point Shootout. You've got 30 seconds to make as many as you can. How accurate are you from 19 feet, 9 inches? Top 10 results will be posted on the florida.ihigh.com website.

Football Toss, presented by The Lakeland Center, and a
Moon Walk, sponsored by Dairy Farmers Inc.
The four-day event is being produced by Rentals, Etc. of Live Oak, which produced the Football FanFare.
The Florida High School Activities Association is the governing body for interscholastic athletic activities in Florida. It has a membership of more than 650 middle, junior and senior high schools.
