I. Purpose and Introductions
The meeting was called to order at 10 a.m. by Denarvise Thornton. Mr. Thornton at this time noted the purpose of the meeting and those in attendance proceeded with a brief introduction of themselves. In attendance were members: Jack Williams, Interlachen High; Lane Lowery, Spruce Creek High; Robert Smithers, Booker High; Ron Colangelo, Venice High; Dwayne Kouf, Santaluces High; Brian Manley; Seabreeze High / FACA Weightlifting Representative. David Tullis of Lake Brantley attended as a visitor. FHSAA staff members present were: Ronald L. Allen, Associate Commissioner and M. Denarvise Thornton, Associate Director of Athletics.
II. The Committee selected Lane Lowery as the chairperson.
III. The agenda was modified and adopted. The modification consisted of placing recommendations from Mr. Kouf, Mr. Marsee, Mr. Gruber and Mr. Hegarty in a different location for action.
IV. Action
A. Review
1. Mr. Thornton reviewed the minutes from a post-event meeting discussing the concerns raised by the 2000-01 State Weightlifting Meet Directors / Hosts.
2. Mr. Thornton also shared concerns raised via the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.
3. Committee reviewed items 6.050, 6.073, 6.075, and 6.102(m) in the 2000-01 FHSAA Weightlifting Manual for clarifications.
B. WtAC Recommendations
1. Listed below are the recommendations proposed, active for the 2001-2002 season, as a result of the meeting:

19.010 Squads
Reword item to read as follows: A team will consist of no more than 15 contestants. A school may enter a maximum of two (2) lifters in seven of the weight categories and one lifter in one of the remaining weight categories.

Coaches Training / Rules Clinics
Create a video with good/bad lifts to review with coaches at the rules clinics. (Advisory committee recommended to send this to staff to implement for this upcoming years rules clinics.)

6.060 Uniforms
Add 6.065 to read: Uniforms must not be removed while in the competition area. 1st offense: official/verbal warning to both the athlete and the coach by meet director or judge; 2nd offense: 1 point deducted from team total, notify the coach and disqualify the athlete under guidelines of unsportsmanlike conduct; 3rd offense: offense is considered gross unsportsmanlike conduct.

Entry Fee for Participation in State Finals
Implement the following fee scale, of which fees will go to the host school(s), for teams / schools entering athletes in the state meet:
$20.00 entry fee for schools entering 1-5 athletes.
$40.00 entry fee for schools entering 6-10 athletes.
$60.00 entry fee for schools entering 11-15 athletes.

Clarifications for the upcoming manual were addressed earlier. Mr. Thornton shared the new / expanded ejection policy regarding coaches for the 2001-02 season.

The committee was provided with an update regarding the following issues and discussion ensued:
1. Girls weightlifting
2. Use of ammonia capsules during competition
3. Uniforms communications to principals
Meeting was adjourned at 1:00pm.
