Conference Call
Purpose
The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Tamara Wilsey. Ms. Wilsey noted the purpose of the meeting as a follow-up to the regularly scheduled Nov. 30, 2004 meeting. In attendance were: Lisa Allgeyer, Satellite HS (Satellite Beach); Mike Curley, Lake Highland Prep (Orlando); Tom Fagley, Westminster Academy (Fort Lauderdale; FACA Representative); Carl Kolling, Lely HS (Naples); Jeff Poppell, Bolles (Jacksonville); and William Shaffer, Jesuit HS (Tampa). The FHSAA staff member present was Tamara Wilsey, Associate Director of Athletics.
Calendar Change
Committee members were notified of the newly adopted calendar for the 2005-06 school year. Swimming & diving will now begin practice one week earlier on Monday, August 1 and the first contest date will be Monday, August 22.
State Site Selection
Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex with a 2-day format.
The committee members had previously submitted 2-day formats that were compiled and distributed back to them for review, pros and cons, and for them to develop a preference to discuss.
After some debate, the committee selected the format the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex submitted. Preliminary rounds that are held separately on Friday with boys diving and the Finals held together on Saturday after girls diving. Due to lighting issues, all diving could not be held on Friday.

2003 SDAC Recommendation
1. Reinstate 2 weeks to the swimming & diving season DENIED BofD 1/05

2004 FACA Recommendations (Effective 2006-07)
1. Eliminate regions. Qualify 32 athletes/individual event and 24 teams/relay event.
No action.
2. Increase to 16 districts/classification from 12 Administrative Decision will be 12
2004 SDAC Recommendations (Effective 2005-06)
1. Modify state meet format. Diving Thursday. Friday run 3 individual prelims. Saturday run 3 individual finals. Addressed in Finals decision above.
2. Increase advancement from districts to regions from 16 to 24, enabling consolation finals at regions. Modified for Novembers meeting.
3. Increase state meet to 24/event (1st and 2nd automatic qualifiers, places 3-8 used for at large times). Include consolation finals. One class per day. Tabled to November.
Roundtable/Discussion
1. Registration of Officials-Starting in the Fall of 2005 all starters and referees will need to be registered with the FHSAA through the officials program.
2. Seeding Deadline Clarification-As declared in District Meeting. This will be noted in the FHSAA Manual.
3. Depth of Scoring at Regions/States- Hy-Tek Upgrade. Due to the scoring format options, this will not be used.
4. Residence and Transfer Rule Concept- There will be a recommendation to go in front of the Representative Assembly at their January 2006 meeting regarding transfers after the ninth grade. Information will be updated at the FHSAA website.
5. Online Rules Clinics- Starting this fall, all rules clinics will move to being conducted online. Information on how to attend the rules clinic and get credit will be sent in the fall pack-out, as well as placed on the FHSAA website.
