It was discussed that more advertising should be created to spur more local interest in the event. Different ticket packages and prices may also help the attendance.
• 3-Point Showdown: There was not 100% participation by districts.
• The Lakeland Center is contracted to host the FHSAA Basketball Finals until 2011.

BKAC Recommendations (effective 2008-09, if passed)
Recommendation #1
Allow student-athletes to play six (6) quarters in one day regardless of level. Amending 103. “Season and Contest Limitations” to read: Players are permitted to play six (6) quarters a day. 18 quarters a week, and a total of 150 quarters a season. Seniors are not permitted to play on sub-varsity teams. The quarter limit shall be checked and verified by the referee during the pregame of the varsity contest. The official sub-varsity score book shall remain at the table during the Varsity contest.
Rationale: To provide more opportunity to develop young players, the chance for less experienced athletes to play more, and allows teams with fewer players to field both sub-varsity and varsity teams that provides more playing time for student-athletes. Girls’ basketball helps with gender equity.
2nd BkAC Rdg. (5-0) Approved - March 3, 2008
Motion to Approve: Fields, 2nd: Ruszkowski

BKAC Recommendations (effective 2009-10)

FACA Recommendations:
Recommendation #1
To shift all Girls and Boys Basketball date one (1) week.

Recommendation #2
Calendar Shifts:
Girls Basketball - Week 19 (date of first practice)
Boys Basketball - Week 20 (date of first practice)
Rationale: A one week shift in the current sports calendar will help ease the overlap between Fall Sports and Winter Sports. It will also provide athletes with the chance to play both a fall and winter sports without missing excessive practice and game time.
Motioned: Fields, 2nd: Horodyski (5-0 Approved - 3/3/08)
