Cindy Boulware found the formula to win, by combining the perfect amount of competitiveness and character in her student-athletes.
Boulware has spent 26 years coaching several sports, but 23 of those years were dedicated to Gainesville High School’s volleyball program, where 43 of her players have signed scholarships to play in college. She retired in 2011 with a 551-155 record and according to the Florida Sportswriter’s Association, the eighth-winningest active coach in the state. She made 10 total appearances at the FHSAA Final Four (nine consecutive), two state runner-up finishes and three state championship titles. Boulware’s 2003 state championship team went undefeated with a 32-0 season and ranked sixth nationally. In 2009, she won the Gainesville Sun Coach of the Decade.
Boulware served on the FHSAA Volleyball Advisory Committee, after being elected by state and area coaches. She was the State Volleyball Chairperson in 2006-07 and initiated a “State Championship Coaches Round Table” giving clinic attendees an opportunity to have Q&As with championship coaches.
Currently, Boulware is the Gainesville High School athletic director, and remains involved with volleyball as an official in the Gainesville area.
