Final basketball, soccer and volleyball reclassifications announced

The final districts for the 2009 & 2010 seasons can be found at the links below for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, and girls volleyball. District meeting coordinators are designated with an “X”. A district coordinator meeting packet will be e-mailed to each of the district coordinators soon.

Approved to move up one classification [32]:
East River, Edgewater, Mainland, New Smyrna Beach, Oviedo, Seabreeze, South Lake, Monarch, Hollywood Hills, Homestead, Miami Beach, Miami Carol City, Miami Northwestern, Reagan, Auburndale, Lake Wales, Winter Haven, Dillard, Pasco, Lincoln Park Academy, West Shore, George Steinbrenner, Lennard, Middleton, Strawberry Crest, Golden Gate, Cardinal Gibbons, Crescent City, Melbourne Central Catholic, Wildwood, Taylor (Pierson), and Fort Meade.

Approved to move down one classification [27]:
Buchholz, Fleming Island, Osceola (Kissimmee) East Lake, Harmony, St. Cloud, Ridgewood, Wiregrass Ranch, Ida Baker, Cape Coral, Palmetto Ridge, Lakewood Ranch, Okeechobee, Baker County, Southeast, Northview, Bozeman, South Walton, Dixie County, Rocky Bayou, Bradenton Christian, Seffner Christian, All Saints, Highlands Christian, Eagles View, MAST Academy, and Lake Mary Prep.

Late request to play an independent schedule [sport]:

The following schools were not approved [19] [reason]:
Tenoroc [move up more than one classification], Belen Jesuit [move up more than one classification], Miami Central [move up more than one classification], Miami Jackson [move up more than one classification], Miami Norland [move up more than one classification], Westland Hialeah [move up more than one classification], Clearwater [no travel advantage], Newberry [no travel advantage],North Port [not within the lower 10%], Riverview (Sarasota) [not within the lower 10%], Gulf Coast [not within the lower 10%], Melbourne [not within the lower 10%], Palm Bay [not within the lower 10%], Chipley [not within the lower 10%], Pensacola Catholic [not within the lower 10%], Cardinal Mooney [not within the lower 10%], Cardinal Newman [not within the lower 10%], Hawthorne [not within the lower 10%], and St. John’s Country Day [not within the lower 10%].

In addition, FHSAA staff moved several schools to balance districts within a classification.
