2008 FHSAA Baseball Championships
District Tournaments
When: Monday, April 21-Friday, April 25
Where: listing of sites
Admission: $5.00 per session

Regional Tournaments
Schedule:
• Regional tournament quarterfinals – 4 p.m. or 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 29
• Regional tournament semifinals – 4 p.m. or 7 p.m., Friday, May 2
• Regional tournament finals (best-of-3 game series) – Game 1 begins at 4 pm (or 1 pm if no lights), Game 2 is 30 minutes after the completion of Game 1 on Friday, May 9
Game 3 if necessary is 1 pm on Saturday, May 10
Where: Times and sites notated on State Series brackets
Admission: $6.00 per day

FHSAA Finals
When: Wednesday, May 14-Tuesday, May 20
Where: Ed Smith Stadium, Sarasota
Host: City of Sarasota
Admission: $8.00 per session
Schedule:
• Wednesday, May 14 – Classes 2A, 5A semifinal games at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
• Thursday, May 15 – Class 2A championship, 4 p.m.; Class 5A championship, 7 p.m.
• Friday, May 16 – Classes 4A, 6A semifinal games at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
• Saturday, May 17 – Class 4A championship, 4 p.m.; Class 6A championship, 7 p.m.
• Monday, May 19 – Classes 1A, 3A semifinal games at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
• Tuesday, May 20 – Class 1A championship, 4 p.m.; Class 3A championship, 7 p.m.

PROCEDURES FOR BEST 2 OF 3 REGION CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

See 205.03(3) (d) on page 16 in the FHSAA Baseball Manual

In Summary:

• On Friday, May 9, Game 1 shall begin at 4 p.m. (1 p.m. if no lights)

• The host school is the home team for game 1.

• A coin toss will be held [visiting school calls the coin toss) during the pre-game conference for game 1 to determine the home team for game 3 (if necessary).  If game 3 is necessary, the game time shall be 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.  Any requested exception to this must be approved IN ADVANCE of May 9th by the FHSAA Office [baseball@fhsaa.org].

• Game 2 shall begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game 1.

• The visiting school is the HOME team (bats last) for game 2.

• The host school has the choice of dugouts for all games.

• One $6 admission is good for games played on Friday.

• If game 3 is necessary on Saturday, the 1 p.m. game time shall be announced over the PA system immediately after the conclusion of game 2.

• A separate $6 admission is required for game 3.

• The host school shall provide Rawlings R100-FL baseballs for all games. [207.03 (2)].  The FHSAA will ship one dozen baseballs to each host.  Each host school is responsible for purchase of the necessary Rawlings baseballs to complete this best 2 of 3 series.
